If your vehicle is involved in a collision, you have the right to choose your auto body shop. Some insurance companies will provide you with their list of “preferred” shops. Remember, you have the right to choose whether or not to use the insurance company’s preferred shop. Auto Body Specialties works with all insurance companies, including State Farm®, Allstate®, Farmers®, Nationwide®, Geico®, Progressive®, and Farm Bureau.
You have the legal right to have your vehicle repaired at any shop you choose and the insurance company is required by law to pay the reasonable cost to repair the accident damage according to the limits set forth in your policy. source
Some insurance companies have been known to try to steer their customers away from shops not on their lists. Some may even tell their customers that a certain shop does not fully guarantee their work.
